Road Safety Walk

P5 finished their Road Safety programme by going on a Road Safety Walk. The children gained lots of experience crossing roads.

Gareth, our Road Safety Advisor , reminded us of the six important steps for crossing safely:
1. Find a safe place to cross
2. Keep your feet behind the edge of the kerb.
3. Look right and left to see if it is safe to cross
4. Cross if it is safe
5. Listen , look right and left as you cross
6. Walk sensibly across the road.

Lots of the children needed to be reminded to keep looking left and right as they were crossing but as we practised this we all improved.

A big thank you to Gareth who kept us all safe. We all had fun on our walk and understand that there are many hazards around us.

Sharing Memories

As part of our Me Inc topic the pupils made memory boxes. They then brought 3 objects in to put in their box.

In Literacy the children planned and wrote reasons for choosing their objects. The children then presented their ideas to the class.

Thankyou for sending in all your precious objects. We all loved hearing about your baby, holiday and family memories.

Making Shapes

Over the past two weeks we having been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes. The pupils enjoyed investigating the properties of 3D shapes such as: number of faces, vertices and edges.

The pupils used Geo Boards to make shapes. They then had to count the number of sides and label the shape. We had fun making regular and irregular shapes.

The pupils have been learning all about length in Numeracy. They worked with a partner to measure body parts and had to find objects that measured a particular length.

The pupils have been developing their estimating skills and now recognise the relationship between centimetres and metres.
