New topics

ActivitiesPosted by Mrs McIlwrath Thu, November 09, 2017 21:39:41
Our topic of bones and teeth has ended and all of the children have learnt something new. It was an interesting topic and the children researched it and discovered some NEW information , for example we have 7 bones in our neck as does a giraffe! We are now going to learn about the weather. We will look at different weather and the seasons. We wil look at wind speeds and rain fall. We will use a weather station to record different aspects of the weather and temperature.
In numeracy we will work with place value beyond 100. We will learn to exchange with HTU and addition. We will learn how to identify odd and even numbers. We will be introduced to decomposition through maths games.
We will also be learning about symmetry, weight, days in the months of the year.
In literacy we will be revising commas and speech marks. We will work on adjectives and proper nouns. We will be completing star tests to try and improve our reading levels so keep an eye out for new levels!
Writing tasks will cover poetry, pattern and rhyming words. We will write letters and weather reports. It will be a very busy few weeks as we will also be working on our Christmas concert. Our main focus will be on numeracy and literacy, unfortunately PE lessons and ABL times may be used to work on our concert. The children are aware of this.
