We are learning to multiply. We used multipacks to help us think of sets and groups. Each pack is a set so two boxes of eggs means two sets of 6. We can change the word SET to TIMES. We used multipacks to write our own sums.

Our class will be working with the Primary four children in Parkhall Primary school. We will visit their school to complete different activities. We are focusing on STEM tasks and will showcase our work in June at a parent session. Next Wednesday will be our first session. We will be looking at recycling and coding. This is a great opportunity for children to learn from others, challenge themselves and make new friends.

As part of PDMU we looked at friendship and making good choices. We talked about how we may do things that our friends ask us to do even though we know we shouldn't. We worked in groups to act out different situations that might affect relationships. It was good fun. We worked on talking and listening skills and we realised that it is ok to say no to a friend if we are not happy

We were working together to use line symmetry. We worked in pairs. One person made a shape and the other had to make it symmetrical.

Our assembly was about friendship and being there for each other. We sang a song by Bruno Mars called Count on Me. Some of us spoke about our friends and we read a short acrostic poem about friends. Then we acted out a story about a king who had two selfish brothers. They loved to eat but the king had made a rule that they could only eat with a spoon that was held at the end of the handle. The brothers soon realised they couldn’t eat. Eventually they worked out that they needed each other. They were able to work together to feed each other and everyone was happy.

We love doing a class assembly and our teacher loves it when we volunteer to speak. Some of us are a little nervous but most of us will take part. We are proud of ourselves and our teacher is proud of us. 😁

In class we are learning to add totals and find the change. We are all learning to work with different amounts. We worked with our maths partners to add the total amount of coins in a money bag. This helped us remember the coins and their value. We also realised it is easier to count the bigger valued coins first.
