On Thursday 1st march we celebrated World Book Day with lots of fun activities.
Lots of children brought in their completed Reading Bingo challenges so thank you for supporting them taking part in this. They will receive their badges as soon as they arrive.
The children also had the chance to spend some time reading with children in P6/7 Miss Carruthers' class. It was lovely to see all the children having fun listening to stories and reading aloud to the older children.
We had so much fun when Joe the Drummer visited our class. The children just loved having a go at playing the beautiful drums and making lots of noise!
Great to see everyone back after a lovely half term break.
The children have completed another Accelerated Reader assessment and their updated reading ranges will be going home today (Thursday). This may mean your child has changed to a different reading group; this is just to ensure all the children are working at the right level. The numeracy groups are also in the process of changing and again this is completely normal and just part of the way we try to support each child. Some children have also moved spelling group and will have a different word list to work on throughout the week.
It is Numeracy week this week which means there is no yellow book for sentences. The children who have a white mental maths book were not set any mental maths task in their booklets but asked to revise number facts to 20 for a test on Friday. Please continue to ensure your child hands in all homework on a Monday morning, red spelling books should be brought to school every morning to be checked.
Following Internet Safety Day , the children completed various activities about keeping safe online. We had discussions about chatting to people online and the children have all been advised not to send/receive messages from people they do not know. I am hopeful you will support this at home.
World Book Day
Children received their voucher and letter explaining the' Bingo Challenge' yesterday. These can be brought into school next Thursday.
Please ensure your child brings a PE kit on a Monday and Thursday and has all items of clothing (including uniform) clearly labelled. Children are allowed to wear trainers for PE instead of plimsolls.
Many thanks for your continued support
