We were very busy in our active learning session, today working on our new topic of Birds/Migration. We focused on penguins today and arctic animals.
In the role play area, we were watching for local birds using both photographs and through the window into the playground.
In the ICT area we were drawing penguins on the IWB and Mathletics.
In the small world and water area we have arctic scenes to use. We did lots of imaginative play and worked as a small group.
In the play dough area, we were making winter shapes using the play dough mats. We used different tools like rolling pins and cutters to help us.
In the construction area, we were making lots of igloos and different types of bird houses or tables.
At the creative table, we were using our knowledge of shape to help us make a 3D penguin. We used black paper to make a cylinder, a white circle or oval for the tummy, an orange triangle for the beak, black triangles for the flippers and to finish off, some googly eyes! They look great!
