Science investigation Activities

Today the children were learning about the force of gravity. We began with a prediction chart and weighing objects. The children had to vote which object would fall to the floor first, last or at the same time when dropped at chest height. The most common predictions were that the heaviest objects would land on the floor first. Once the predictions were complete, the children stood up to observe the objects dropping and landing at the same time. They learned that no matter the weight of an object, it will land at the same time with another item. Key words used today: prediction, fair test, evaluation and force.

It was Damien's last football session with Primary 2 today! He has taught the children a lot of essential physical skills this year, such as running, jumping, stopping, dribbling with a ball, passing and emphasising the importance of team work in sports. The children voted for their favourite games that they have played this year to play today. It was a fun-filled final session. Thank you Damien for your work with our class this year!

Spaceship art Activities

Posted by Mrs Kennedy Thu, June 07, 2018 02:29PM

The children enjoyed creating and designing their own spaceships today in art class. They began by sticking two paper bowls together and a plastic cup on top using PVA glue. Once dried, they painted their spaceships using 3 different colours. They then were given a variety of glitter, sequence and pipe cleaners and could decorate their spaceship however they wanted. Some very creative ideas produced!

Class trip Activities

What a fantastic day at the zoo! The weather was beautiful and the children enjoyed every minute! We started the day visiting the giraffes, elephants and zebras. The children commented on the "lovely" smell coming from their house. We watched the beautiful penguins gliding in the water and the seals basking in the sun. We had John the Zoo keeper introduce us to a hedgehog, stick insect, frog and snake. The children were given the opportunity to hold and touch the animals! We finished the trip with a picnic and playing in the park.
