Today in Numeracy the children were learning about tree diagrams. We started with a large tree diagram on the carpet. A number of children were selected to walk along the branches to show whether they preferred cake or ice-cream and which flavour. The class then worked in their numeracy groups to complete smaller tree diagrams using plastic elephants, bears and multilink.

Today, the class were learning about height - how tall? We drew around James and created a body outline. We then measured James' height by lining up elephants to see how tall he was. James is the same height as 23 elephants. Each Numeracy group then had a turn at measuring their peers with different objects as their measuring tool.

Today in Numeracy, the children were learning about money. The focus was recognition of the different coins - 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p. The children worked in groups to sort the different coins and then individually sorted coins through a cut and stick activity.

The class had great fun playing 'the floor is lava'. The children could only stand inside the hoops, on top of the rope or on small floor mats. This reinforced balance when running with speed.
