I brought in my grandad's WW2 medals for the children to look at. He was a medic in the RAF and he also had to get the planes ready to go again when they came in to refuel. He fought in Germany, Italy, France and Africa and received the Africa Star, the Italy and France Star and the Germany Star. He lived in Scotland and was told to join the RAF he didn't have a choice. He also got the Defence Medal and the War Medal. Grandad never talked about the war and kept his medals in the box. The children really enjoyed seeing the medals as it brought our topic to life!
