Forgiveness

ActivitiesPosted by Mrs Allen Tue, February 06, 2018 04:11PM

Our RE scheme is about forgiveness. The children are learning how to forgive someone if something wrong has been done to them.

We listened to the story about the new toy being broken and the children painted their pictures afterwards.

Me in Winter

ActivitiesPosted by Mrs Allen Tue, February 06, 2018 04:06PM

The children have been involved in lots of winter activities.

This morning during number time we were sorting on a tree diagram. It was good fun sorting out the children's clothes into piles on the right branches. We are all looking forward to the summer sun!

During activity based learning we were discussing ice cubes and how we could melt them really quickly. Eventually we figured out the best place would be the radiator.

We have put more water in the ice cube tray and have it back in the freezer for tomorrow's experiment.

Winter puzzles and Penguin Pile up.

Logan is having a go at writing a sentence. He has a look all around to find words that might be good to write.

Safer Internet Day

ActivitiesPosted by Mrs Allen Tue, February 06, 2018 03:56PM

Today was an opportunity to remind the children to stay safe on the Internet, in all sorts of ways. We watched a short clip about two puppets Red and Murphy who played so long on their ipads and computers that their eyes got tired. They suggested having a break from technology and getting fresh air into their lungs.

The children enjoyed the story online and had a good discussion afterwards about how much time they spend on their ipads and tablets.

Assembly

ActivitiesPosted by Mrs Allen Wed, January 31, 2018 03:59PM

It was our turn to take assembly. We were telling the story about Jesus feeding the 5000 at Lake Galilee. The little boy gave his lunch to Jesus and the disciples shared out the loaves and fishes. (They were allowed to eat the brioche!) They made baskets to collect the leftover food. They sang their song beautifully, and Ethan even sang a solo.

The children all painted pictures of what the children would have looked like in the time of Jesus. The children did every part by themselves. Fine motor skills are improving every day!

The world around us

ActivitiesPosted by Mrs Allen Wed, January 24, 2018 03:12PM

Our topic this month is "Me in Winter."

The children painted pictures of themselves. They had to draw around their own hands to make mittens. They drew triangle hats and decorated them with patterns. Finally they made a pattern scarf. They assembled the whole picture by themselves.

I think they all look fabulous.

Of course we had to paint a snow picture. They had a day or two to enjoy the snow. The children were learning to paint their snowman first before adding the details afterwards.

The children make their own titles as well.

We didn't have any silver paper this year so we had to improvise. Firstly the children had to draw their own Jack frost. Secondly they had to wrap it in tin foil. This was a little bit fiddly but with perseverance they managed to produce a lovely piece of craft work.
