Pantomime

EventsPosted by Miss Carruthers Tue, December 19, 2017 09:55AM

Many thanks to those parents and friends who came along to support us last week when we presented "Cinderella and Rockerfella". It was great fun but took a lot of hard work! Well done to all the pupils, who worked really hard to learn all their lines and songs, and to the team of staff who brought it all together. Here are a few photos of the main characters (we are missing a fairy, who went home sick!).

Cinderella and Rockerfella - head to toe designer leather!!

The Ugly Sisters - Gusty and Nasty!

Fairy Godmother and the transformed Fairy Nastyboots.

The Fairy Brigade (minus one - poor Erin)!

Eco-Warriors

ActivitiesPosted by Miss Carruthers Tue, December 19, 2017 09:48AM

We created these jungle pictures inspired by the French artist, Henri Rousseau. The tiger is made separately and attached, using fronds of paper for foliage and flowers. The background was sponge and brush painted.

Floating Challenge!

ActivitiesPosted by Miss Carruthers Tue, February 14, 2017 03:24PM

We worked in groups to make a boat which would hold the most number of glass beads before sinking. Each group had 1m of tin foil and a roll of sellotape. We had 13 minutes to complete the challenge! The best boat held 357 beads! It was great fun and we learnt that it is important to think about the size of your boat, its strengths and the height of its sides.

Titanic Junk Art

ActivitiesPosted by Miss Carruthers Thu, February 09, 2017 03:46PM

We have been constructing 3D Titanic models using junk materials. First we used a cereal box to create the hull and the living quarters of the ship. Then we used cardboard tubes to create the funnels - all four of them! It was very tricky to join it all together using masking tape. Finally we painted our models, adding a stripe on the funnels and windows on the living quarters. The results are pretty amazing!

Titanic Science!

ActivitiesPosted by Miss Carruthers Tue, February 07, 2017 04:35PM

We did some floating and sinking investigations today in World Around Us. We had to make predictions about which items would float and then test them. Then Miss Carruthers challenged us to make an orange sink! We had to think of a way and then try it out. If you peel an orange, you take away the layer of air between the orange and then skin, making the peeled orange sink. Easy! smiley
